MMs
Before our guest speaker talked with us about Morning Meetings, they seemed really dumb. The video was interesting and all, but I just didn't feel it. In field my teacher had them, but they were kind of pointless and boring (for me and the students). Now I am totally encouraged to use MMs. I have been converted. I need to learn more about them from people who have been successful in using them, and make it a good experience for all. Because of the success our guest speaker had, I am hopeful to have the same success.

Emotion trumps learning
When I was in elementary school, I loved to learn. I was willing to read aloud, write on the board, and do whatever the teacher asked me to do. However, one time in class when I read aloud, I was made fun of by other students. This turned me off to the idea of volunteering at all. Because I was emotionally upset, I didn't care to learn. Student's emotions may seem to an adult to be small things, but to the students, they are very real. Acknowledging that students emote, and helping them through their problems will emphasize that things in school are important, including the learning.

Sept 2
1a. When I was a student I was able to build a form of friendship with my teacher. We weren't "friends" but I knew that she cared about me. I learned to love school in 4th grade because she was so kind to me. As a teacher it will be very important to me to let my students understand that they are important people, they are not just "another 4th grader" they are a person with needs and wants that are meaningful. I will not treat them like what they have to say is not valuable.

End of Week 3
We only taught once this week and I think it went pretty good. It was also good to go on our field trip with the class. We went to the BYU planetarium with the kids, and then we went to the world fair there on campus. the kids were able to learn of different dance styles and music, and able to see interestin things from countries around the world. Overall I would say it was a fun and successful week

End of week 2
This week we finished teachin all our lessons. I felt that the one we incorporated the element of voice in worked out really well. the kids had fun making being the voices of different Greek gods in a slide show presentation. some participated really good, and others just read the script they wrote in a monotone voice. We created newspapers and the sudents learned elements of line, and spacing, the newspapers were really creative and fun. Overall, it was really a good week.

Field, week 1
Week one was great. We taught for the first time on Friday and it worked out pretty good. We explored voice and expression while doing voice overs for the different greek gods in a film we are making as a class. One thing we should have done better would have been to practice a little bit more with voice, and we should have given the students something to do when they were finished. some finished early, then were just goofing off and it was kind of a management mess (not completely, could have been better, could have been worse). The End
Visual Arts
Learning from the different artists was great. I think that using colors and other visual arts can really be helpful to a student's learning. It is also great for the students to express themselves. Sometimes, school can be the only place a child has to express him/herself. if they can do it in art, as an assignment, I have done my job. I don't care about grades, I care about helping students reaching their potential
